 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Charles Shriner was my captain and trainer.  He was outstanding.  His patience and encouragement were never ending.  He kept things suitable for my level and never lost me.  I felt he got the best out of me.  Thanks to him, I was able to pass the basic four day course, the one day night endorsement course and the two day advanced course in a span of two weeks.  He has done it within days with double lessons for those coming in from out of town.  He always made me feel special and treated me with great  respect and consideration. I've taken all of the courses to get certified to handle power boats and I've chartered boats from them on probably a dozen other occasions and each time, my experience has been great.  Their captains are very knowledgeable and they do a great job of scheduling your lessons and/or charters. Who We Are

Los Angeles Powerboat Academy is a US Powerboat course provider for the larger “ cruising class” powerboats. We offer courses for Basic Cruising Powerboat, Night Operations, and Inshore certifications. After obtaining your Powerboat certifications, you can take command of the helm of our 40’, 50’ and 55’ luxury motor-yachts. The Basic Powerboat certification course is a 12-hour “on the water” training program, and accepted by the state of California to obtain your California Boater Card.

Certification Means Something

LA Powerboat Academy is one of the few companies providing powerboat certification on the West Coast. The truth is, powerboating has little regulation, so if you want to learn, there’s no shortage of “guys that have driven a boat” that fancy themselves as instructors. And some of them are probably good, too. But if you want a certified instructor that uses the National validated skill-based standards for powerboats, you want LA Powerboat Academy teaching you (especially if you want National Certification yourself). There is simply no substitute for proven experience with US Powerboating, and that means being a true National Certified Powerboat Instructor.
